Yet another problem with this movie

Is it my imagination or did Tom pretty much let himself get captured? What, the mean aunt just grabs his tail and that's it? You're not Goku from Dragon Ball; your tail is not your weak spot. So what, the aunt has hands? Tom has super-sharp claws and teeth; problem solved.
