My One Criticism Of This Movie

Although "Chris Gant" (Robert Piest) was the only one of Gacy's murder victims whom we, the audience, became "acquainted with," he wasn't the only victim we got to hear about: We also got to hear about "Gerald Mitklovitch"(John Butkovitch) & "Lester Trask" (John Szyc). Yet, at the end of the movie, when they were showing the investigators digging up Gacy's home, & finding all the bodies, the narrator, didn't mention these 2 by name. He said "The body of a 26'Th victim was found buried under the floor in the garage." What he really should have said here was "The body of "Gerald Mitklovitch" was buried under the floor in the garage. Same regarding "Lester Trask." He should have mentioned where he was buried, rather than "a 29'Th" body" or something of extent.

The movie doesn't even start off with "Chris Gant's" disappearance. It starts off with "Mr. Mitklovitch" & then "Mrs. Trask"reporting their sons' disappearance to the police, and the condescending treatment both these parents receive from the police superintendents dealing with them. Therefore, they deserved a little better treatment, than simply passed off as dead bodies found in Gacy's home.

That's a valid objection--I wonder if the reason they didn't name them at the end may have been because the writers were using pseudonyms rather than the victims' real names.

Maybe recounting the stark facts at the end of the film, they may have felt it would be somehow disrespectful to use false names (thus sort of dismissing those deaths as somehow fictional) rather than the actual names--and may have for a number of reasons, ranging from tactful to legal, not wished to refer to these boys by their real names?

Maybe. But, they still mentioned "Chris Gant's" body being found in the river 4 months later.
