Aged well

In comparison to something as silly as "Smoke Signals," this movie has aged well for me. The portrayal of Sam Reaches by Ted Thin Elk was simply classic (the outfits plus the gentle and still knowing of elders living in a modern age). John Trudell (RIP) allowed for a true contemporary fighter to express himself onscreen (research Alcatraz 1969). The only drawbacks, for me, were the Canadian and a person with tenuous Native background trying to come across as real Native people during the era. Sam Shepard's Coutell definitely voices so many of the deeply rooted, hateful mind emotions that live on to this day among non-Natives who live/interact with reservation folk in the 21st century. (Also, I like how this movie describes the actual relationship between the U.S. government and federally recognized tribes, i.e. the Major Crimes Act and the FBI.)
