Haven't seen it, but maybe I should

This movie must have been made a few years before it was released, because I remember that some self-important gossip-columnist type made a big whoop-de-doo about it in her short-lived trashy segment on some tabloid show in 1992. Supposedly we were to think that Luke Perry was dirty, dirty boy towards whom we should all make "shame-shame" gestures for being in this movie. His agent allegedly denied that Perry starred in this movie to someone probably working for the gossip columnist. Perry's agent was probably unaware that the movie was being released, which gave me the impression that Perry made the movie in 1989 or 1990, the movie was shelved because of its low quality, but then the studio decided to release it once Perry became a big name in the early 90's thanks to "90210".

*Terminal* *Bliss* does rather sound like an unapologetic trash-wallow, but the gossip columnist on the TV show gave the impression that this film was just shy of hardcore "XXX" pornography. I doubted that very much. And I don't think any less of Luke Perry for starring in a film of questionable quality when he was a struggling up-and-comer, and I wish him success and fulfillment in trying to make a name for himself that doesn't typecast him in "Dylan McKay" type roles forever.

Oh yeah, and I wrote a letter to the tabloid show telling them how much they sucked for having such a trashy gossip-segment on their already questionable show and that I wasn't going to watch anymore. I did watch one show a few months later to see if the trashy gossip segment was still on. Apparently, that idea was summarily shelved. Good riddance to bad garbage.

I recommend that you see 'Terminal Bliss.' You might be surprised at how serious and dark the movie is. Luke Perry plays an over-privileged rich kid, not so unlike his character in 90210. The difference is his character here is quite nasty and immoral. The "scandal" was over the fact that Perry abuses alcohol, takes cocaine and LSD, and rapes his girlfriend's underage sister on the floor of a bathroom. I suppose this all went against his super-clean TV image at the time. In fact, his work in "Terminal Bliss" is probably the best stuff Perry has ever done, and the most serious. The movie might be low budget, but it is much more insightful, and much more realistic than most silly fluff made about teens. Not to mention the fact that it is a real 80's time capsule.
