Okay, I've seen Tenchi Muyo, Universe, and Tokyo. I've even watched GxP
I know that theyre not all in the same story arc either. But I'm aware that Galaxy Police is a spinoff of Tenchi Muyo.
But what I don't understand is the whole OVA thing. Ive heard "ova" before but yet to understand it. Is it refering to like different series?
And someone want to tell me what OVA 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. is?

OVA stands for something like "Original Version Anime" which, in Japan, refers to a pilot series of a new anime, usually 12 or 13 episodes long. In the case of Tenchi Muyo there were 13 episodes originally, which were split into two separate "mini" OVAs. Tenchi Muyo OVA 1 & 2 are therefore the original 13 episodes made back in the early 90s. The third OVA is more recent and comprises a continuation of the same story, but there are quite a few changes between this and the original OVA (characters look different, changes in voice actors, etc.), so some people don't consider it to be a "proper" part of the Tenchi Muyo series. OVA 4 and 5, don't know much about that, rumours I guess.
Basically, Tenchi Muyo (the first 13 episodes, at least) *IS* the OVA.

gxp is also considered cannon taking place after the 3 ova, by the way a single ova of one episode that takes place after ova 3 was released in japan in 2005 - final confrontations and i believe gxp takes place after that
ova 4,5 are speculations of contination
the other cannon is universe , tm 1, tm 3
I'm sorry for not checking this sooner, but it did help out a great deal, I was just so confused at the time with what I was watching. I'd seen the series before, but that was when I was a kid and didn't really think much of it at the time.
But really it did help a lot, greatly appreciated.
