Which scene do you LOVE and why?

Which scene do you love the most and why do you love that scene?
DETAILS please!!

reply

OMG, I just have too many!!
But if I need to only mention one, it's the scene where Scott dances with Fran behind the stage (with the Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps song playing) - you can really feel the chemistry there!! Love their facial expression on this dance too -- probably because they were dancing the rumba. I love the paso doble they did for the competition but the rumba is no. 1 on my list.

reply

Oh yes that scene is very romantic....

reply

Theres loads, but 2 that stands out

1-where theyre dancing behind the stage u see scott likes her from there

2-wen theyre dancing at the end to paso doble

reply

Any scene with Doug from the moment on that he tells Scott the truth.

reply

When Doug has his outburst and demands that Scott listen to him...that intensity on his face and in his voice, especially when speaking to Shirley..."you should have stuck by me for better or for worse!" WOW! What a great moment for a normally meek character.

I also love the first few moments of Scott and Fran's final dance in particular. The timing of the crowd's cheers as they burst in, the sharpness of the first steps with the music...it blows me away every time!

And their earliest dancing to "Time After Time." That's partially because I love that song so much anyway, and it's choreographed to the music beautifully, and I love how it occasionally breaks to both the auditions and his father's secret dancing. Such cleverly orchestrated scenes!

reply

I love that bit with Doug as well!!

But i think that my favourite is probably that whole scene when Scott meets Rico and he is shown the Paso Doble. I love the tension and the rhythm and...and...everything :D

reply

Are you kidding?!The whole "Time After Time" sequence. I dont usually swoon over a movie scene but that one makes me melt. Its just perfect. Its romantic without it being contrived. I also like the part in the end during the championships when Scott slid on the dancefloor, beginning to dance their own steps. Great movie!

reply

don't know why but i love the Ken Railings apperance at the dance studio "Pam Short's broken both her legs and I want to dance with you"
Also when Sott and Fran dance the rhumba to perhaps.

reply

I never cry at movies but the final scene when they shut off the music and Doug comes out of the crowd and begins to clap his hands to a beat. The look on his face just made me cry.

I also liked the Spanish influence in the dancing.

reply

1.Fren's father showing Scot paso doble,
2.when they shut off the music and Doug claps his hands - that one is really outstanding!

reply

OMG...the dance to Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps by Scott and Fran. the chemistry! It's amazing. This scene truly does it for me. It's one of the reasons I love it as a romantic comedy!

I also like the scene where Scott and Fran dance on the roof, I think Fran has a white outfit on.

I also like the scene where the all of Frans family and Scott dance together. (scene where Fran has on a half-finished dress on)...very lively.

reply

All the scenes with Doug make me fill up, but the bit where he comes out clapping gets me, and even moreso when the music comes back on and he's fully crying his eyes out and clapping with pride. I love Doug!

"Yeu are da wan who is spowsed to be telling stories about biers det go shahh-ping!"

reply

My favorite moment between Scott and Fran is brief. It's in the end of the film when they are dancing. It's about the end of the song. Fran stops straight up and scott slides to her and stands up right to her front of her face with a strong dramatic movement up. Something about that moment stands out to me. It's very strong and romantic.

reply

I too love the 'perhaps perhaps' scene but I also like the scenes where you see Doug. I love the way you see his character progress from being meek and private to the brilliant scene where he stands up to Shirley. When he shouts at her like that I get goosebumps.

I've more or less picked these at random because the entrire film is amazing!

Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, dance like no one is watching

reply

meval, i totally agree. i have always loved that exact moment and i don't know why. i also love when Liz turns the music back on

reply

why do you think she does that? sometimes I think it's a form of redemption for her - letting Scott and Fran go on to be together, and triumph - and other times I think it's the utmost in bitchery; her trying to let Scott dig his own grave
what do others think?

reply

I never once considered your second idea. There was only goodwill by the end, and it was a moment of joy (it didn't matter if Scott was technically "losing"; he didn't even care, in fact that moment came AFTER he was told to leave the floor and he and Fran just kept dancing without the music anyway.)

And at the end Liz is happily dancing with Fran's father.

She was redeemed at that moment, and when seeing what Scott was capable of full-force, she was ultimately supportive.

there are so much scenes i love! but mostly

- the moment when scott starts to tell her (that he won´t dance with her, before doug comes and they go to the roof), fran/tara´s face is SO expressive, so vulnerable - it´s so touching!

- their dance to "time after time", their serious intensity, and then fran´s great pleasure when scott tells her that she´s "ready"

- the rumba behind the curtain, especially in the beginning, when fran places her hand at the "wrong" place and then shyly puts it higher, to his shoulder;

- when scott tells her that he´ll dance with HER and their so very beautiful smiles (just before fran´s father comes)

- the moment when scott got the rhythm, he´s turning with his arms above and a train passes and that lightcircle! just beautiful!

- the whole final dance

- fran´s last turn in the final dance, when her dress flies high, as some times before, and this time she weares WHITE pants (before: red). it´s one of the most charming goofs i´ve ever seen(lol).

The dance in front of the coke sign, makes me cry. I also will never forget my reaction to the commentary at the begining of the movie on scotts dancing, the first time I watched it. As a ballroom dancer I thought it was hilarious! I quoted lines from that movie for days! And then I watched it again!

reply

Most definetely the last scene.. Loved every second of it, from the moment Scott slid on the floor till the end .

Dear Warden.. You were right. Salvation lies within.

reply

That sliding move Scott does...can't remember but it was in slow motion, right? Just an amazing moment.

Sokka: My first girlfriend turned into the moon.
Zuko: That's rough, buddy.

reply

When Fran and Scott dance the Rumba to Perhaps backstage.

I'm anaspeptic, frasmotic, even compunctuous to have caused you such pericumbobulations...
