When the wind blows Dolly's dress up during the brigde scene, the viewer can plainly see she's wearing a girdle! I was shocked! This movie was made in 1992. I thought women stopped wearing girdles a long time ago. Quite frankly, it was kind of cool!

I know she has a wig line and she often makes fun of her cosmetic surgery. So may be the girdle peek was a planned thing. Those underwear she had on looked like biker shorts with lace, so I don't think the wind up the skirt thing was a total suprise.
Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.
In Steel Magnolias Dolly's character says something like "I haven't gone out without Lycra on these thighs since I was 15"
"You were raised right".
