Disappearing Cops ????

I think this is one of those excellent movies that just never made it in the box office - the plot, screenplay, and all the acting was first class. But the courtroom scene, right at the end with all the shooting, had the two cops shooting the gunman, then we cut to a view from the judge's bench, showing the entire courtroom with the gunman standing in the center, and the cops have magically disappeared! A few seconds later after the judge shoots him the cops are right there standing over him. How could the director make such an inexcusable screwup? Or indeed, the person doing the editing? I expect this sort of thing in a James Bond movie, but it should not have happened here. It detracts from the credibility of an otherwise very believable and intriguing film.

If you like James Spader as I do, be sure to see "Two Days in the Valley".

I agree this film was excellent. I just rented it from Netflix. I had not seen since 1992. It was a favorite James Spader film of mine. I really liked the scenes between James Spader and Joanne Whalley-Kilmer.

I did not notice the cops disappearing. Most likely I was caught up in all the shooting. Sometimes the director makes mistakes that can ruin an otherwise good flick, look at Jagged Edge.A lot of problems with Glen Closes clothes, she wore two different suits in the same scene in court. and her hair changing to flat to curly. look closely at A nightmare on elm st from 1984.The scene where Nancy is fighting Freddy, he falls and you can see a Matress!

I thought it was a good movie!

Watch it again. They're back there. They're just ducking behind the benches on either side of the ailse. The unrealistic part is that they didn't shoot the guy until he was dead, and I seriously doubt the judge would've had a gun under his desk and had to finish him off. But it is New Orleans, so maybe he would!
