I don't know of one, though I have been looking. This excellent film certainly merits a DVD release.

shareI wish... I bought a used VHS copy off of eBay. As far as I know, thats the only way to get it. The VHS is out of print and a DVD has never been made. No idea why as its a great movie with well known actors. HBO usually releases their stuff on DVD, but this hasnt been released and its been YEARS, so, who knows.

How many movies from Hollywood do you know, with a decisive attitude toward the second (or the first, for that matter) totalitarian dictatorship of the 20th century? Not many, I´m afraid. Why bother and issue all of them on DVD?

You may be right. I certainly can't remember any other movie about the communist persecutions. There are thousands of thousands of movies about the Holocaust OTOH.
Some people consider paying much attention to other genocides as diminishing the Holocaust and thus a form of Holocaust denial.
I picked the DVD up at Walmart this evening. It was part of a "2 Robert Duvall Films" collection on 1 dvd. Copyright 2012, so it was just released - by TGG Direct, LLC. Haven't seen it yet, bought it simply because I like Duvall, but now I think I'm probably in for a good time.
The other film, btw, was "Assassination Tango."

joefranke, how is the quality of the video? Does it look better than the VHS or Laser disc picture? Widescreen?
