'Harley Stone will return in 'The Tunnel''

Did anyone see the original VHS release when at the end of the credits the text came up-

"Harley Stone will return in 'The Tunnel'"

...apparently it was a sequel about terrorists threatening the (then unbuilt) Channel Tunnel.

I don't know...I think 'Split Second' did really well in the UK on video, usually that spells sequel.

I've never seen the 'tag line' (Harley Stone will...) on any other version since the original rental VHS release, so I think it's just one of those things that never happened.

The terrorists never attacked, there was no need to film it.

wait a sec... I thought this was a Direct-To-Video release?

besides a sequel this screamed Prequel, all the flashbacks they had, i remember going to my local video rental and askign about the prequel to the movie and they had no idea what I was talking about..

Nope, it was released into cinemas in both the UK and America (and probably quite a few other countries as well) and actually made it into the US box office top ten in it's opening weekend.

If it hit the top ten, why cancel "The Tunnel"?

Even though Split Second made it into the American Box Office Top Ten in it's first week of release, it ultimately didn't make much money. Another example is Urban Legends: Final Cut (2000), which was number one at the American box office in it's first week, but still failed to make a profit.

Well firstly I was like 9 or 10 when I saw this movie (I grew up of Action movies) and I didn't know of the concept of a flashback in a movie that wasn't a sequel. So I thought all the flashbacks came from a previous movie.

I was young... what do you want.
