Why didn't Martin already know?

Martin & Crease head over to deliver they mysterious box. While about to get payment or killed, Martin is alerted that something is wrong. Crease sees a story In a paper in the back seat, that the professor that they stole the box from has been killed. My question is this it's presumed Martin seen or got the paper it's his car. So how can he not know and why get out of car?

um...because he hadn't actually read the paper yet???

The people you idolize wouldn't like you.

The papter was in the back seat of his car. So you estimate he bought the paper and didn't read it yet so he placed it on his backseat? All the while the headline didn't grab his attention.

It was on the back. He could have just tossed it back there without looking at it. The handoff was said to be early.
Maybe Martin didn't buy the paper, perhaps Sidney Poitier did.

I always assumed that Crease bought the paper to read while he waited for Marty to finish the handoff. Thus, Marty would not have seen the headlines at all, having not even looked at the paper.

Ach! It's so stimulating being your hat!
