Bittersweet Memories

I've always enjoyed this film, and lately it's been on cable quite a bit. It's on FLiX as I write this (11/16/2015 at 7:28am EST).

But "Sneakers" brings back A LOT of memories because it's one of the films I saw in the theater with my first true love. It was the 2nd movie date we had. She would break my heart almost two years later.

That was A LONG TIME AGO, and I've been through all kinds of crap in my life since, as well as several relationships, but seeing this film always takes me back to those first feelings of what most people would characterize as love. Much simpler times.

It's not a great movie, and hardly one which evokes notions of love or romance. Great cast and an interesting premise. Not much action or intensity...it's more of a thinker. But as a young(er) person, I went to see movies all the time, several times a month, even by myself...but usually with a date or friends. Now, if I go at all, it's with my niece or nephew to see something appropriate to their ages. But now that they are teenagers, that's not a common occurrence anymore either. Anyway...

Just thought I'd share a personal remembrance while I watch the rest of "Sneakers". It's not enough to evoke tears, but when it comes on TV, I can't help but cast my mind back to those days and wonder what might have been.
