I liked it as a kid but now it seems kind of retarded............. .

I watched it the other day and it just seemed stupid. It was okay for the time period it was made, early nineties, but it just didn't do Stephan King justice.

I like cats named nightmare. I have a "nightmare" every night!

I'm inclined to agree. It's much campier than even the loosest, Hollywoodised Stephen King films.
Honestly, if it had been deliberately comedic in a few scenes and more tightly plotted, then maybe it'd have been a more memorable movie.
At least Tanya was lovely, and Clovis was a cool cat.

I have just watched it again after all these years and was very disappointed. I didn't remember it was so bad. Seriously, it is "SyFy original movies" material.

The premise was somewhat interesting, but very poorly executed. The whole unexplained "mythology" behind the sleepwalkers felt contrived. Cat-people that are vulnerable to... cats?! And burn if they are scratched?! Also, cats chase and attack them, but only when it is convenient to the story.

The only good things were Alice Krige, Mädchen Amick's beauty and Enya's song. I was waiting to see Ron Perlman, and then he shows up near the end just to have his ass kicked.

What cat-people? They were monsters, not cats.

Such a crap of a film!

There are other of the sort worthwhile watching.

For instance "Cat People" (1982) www.imdb.com/title/tt0105428/board/reply/229533102

There is some irony in this, for the simple fact that the weakest part of the film was its script, and its script was written by....?

You guessed it: Stephen King.

King is a gifted writer....of novels. Screenwriting is not his forte, nor is direction if Maximum Overdrive is any indication.

And of course this never would have been made then if Steven King was not involved.

The film's retardation is part of its charm. It's constantly entertaining you with twisted horror, baffling comedy, gore, weird cameos, cool 90's effects, Mädchen Amick's face, Ferris Bueler's parents, Clovis. It's a symphony of deranged junk that completely entertains.
