Underrated...Also - 'Small Soldiers' anyone?

First of all; I hadn't seen this since I rented it in '91.

After watching the DVD, I again really found this to be an underrated flick. I mean really underrated.

Compared to the straight to video stuff of this timeframe (when even those movies had fairly high production value) - this one, I felt, really delivered some good stuff. Can't understand the low rating.

Question though - as Joe Dante's career has slipped downhill (anyone see his angry "Masters of Horror" diatribe?) - I have to wonder. "Small Soldiers" had a LOT in common with this. Especially the army-men scene.

Anyone else agree?

Now - if only they'd do a 2 film release of "The Curse" 3+4 so I can finish my horror franchise collection from this period. I had to order from Europe to get "Ghoulies Go To College".

Damn. I feel like I'm living in an 80's video store - updated :-)

Um, no this installment sucks. Cheesy and loaded with bad acting. Not in the least is it scary, unlike the original.
The low rating it has on IMDB is quite accurate.

I agree. This film was quite offbeat and original. The scenes with the toys attacking people were a riot, with the sequence involving the pair of lethal rollerblades rating as my favorite. The army men scene was very cool and funny as well.
