Plot hole?

When she runs away from the general's house, it's already late at night. If they went to the opera in downtown Berlin, it would have taken them close to an hour to drive back to Potsdam. Potsdam is about 50 km (30 miles) from Berlin. It is implied in the movie that she was on foot. From Potsdam to Berlin, that would have taken her way longer than the rest of the night (when was the last time any of you walked/ran 30 miles in formal wear and how long did it take you?). The whole thing just doesn't add up. Unless she really managed to catch some form of public transport, it doesn't work. On the other hand, in war times, I believe there was a curfew and a darkness requirement because of the air raids (my mother who lived in Berlin in WWII mentioned something like this), so the trams and busses wouldn't have run anymore that late at night. What do you all think?

You are right, the distance thing as well as the scene where she hides from a passing tram is, as many other things in this film, highly improbable or even impossible. Yet I wouldn't call it a plot hole, especially because most people wouldn't even notice.

reply

She was able to make the distance because if you pay close attention she had taken the little girls roller skates as she leaves the house. She was able to make the distance by skating really fast.

I agree plus she was wearing high heels, she couldn't keep up that running speed for long.

reply

hmm there's no way she could have ran 30 miles period. if that's the space she supposedly ran it was a plot hole. something had to make this movie bad, to me it was great.
