I had the opportunity in my Japanese class to watch this film and I loved it, and I really think that my brother would enjoy it as well so i wanted to buy it. However I can't find it available online for a region 1 dvd player.
Does anybody know where I could find a copy (with English subtitles) that would work with my dvd player, it would be greatly appreciated!

I found it on VCD put out by a Chinese Company. City Laser and Video COmpany. With Chinese and English subs. You might look in Ebay or Yesasia.com
