Well....in this movie every one was sad about thay,david didnt say any thing to any one ...so what would happen if he tells that in the first place ? And one thing else ,how the football coach knows every thing about david?

2) If David announced right from the start that he was Jewish, he would probably make no one happy. His classmates would resent his presence and perhaps not let him play football, the alumni would be disappointed that their secret was disclosed, and he would not have these two happy months he enjoyed (including meeting Sally) before his secret was disclosed by a drunk alum.
What if he said this secret after football game,and before kissing salley in a celebration?
He did not have a chance ,he hide the secret because he was afraid and he was right
