Crossing the eyline during the tango.

.

Lovely movie , but what about the "crossing the eyeline" howler at about 4:30 into the tango. It hits me between the eyes each time I see it ! This was always a no-no when I was at film school during the ice age !

From the time the music starts to the time it stops the tango goes on for 2:14 and I have no idea what 'crossing the eyeline' is, could you elaborate?

There are no hard-fast rules... Its something to consider when you have two people conversing in dialogue, though for a dance choreography, i can see the rule not really applying anymore. (that said, i'm not aware of the scene you mention, specifically, and i'd have to see it, to judge if it is truly jarring or not).
