Filming location

The filming locations were near Vancouver, B.C., Canada, specifically: the period exteriors were filmed at house on '0' Avenue, which is right on the Canada Us Border on the Canadian side, right along the 49th parallel. The bonfire scene was filmed there and I believe they burned the house down in the end. A few miles from the Peace Arch crossing in Blaine. Lovely little spot on a bit of a hill. The river scenes were filmed in Cates Park and elsewhere near Deep Cove in North Vancouver. Interiors at Dominion Bridge Studios at Boundary Road and Broadway in Vancouver. Dan O'Bannon and his wife auditioned the cast and Dan was delightful to work with; a scholar and a gentleman from beginning to end.
