Needed Jeffrey Combs...

Both actors are camping it out. "Hawk" (Terry) is underacting and Sarandon is being theatrical for no reason. Combs would've been a way better choice for either role.

Bring Raimi or Gordon (or both, one for the cottage part, one for the ward part) to direct and you have a winner.

Jeffrey Combs is a campy boob. He ruins every Lovecraft adaptation he appears in, making me wonder why he even bothers doing them. The Resurrected needed a better execution. The script was a pretty decent updating of the Lovecraft novel, though the detective plot was unneeded, but we needed a cast that took it seriously like Chris Sarandon did. The story is a good one that doesn't need to be dragged into campy hell by the likes of Jeffrey Combs. Gordon would be a good choice to direct if he could leave Combs out and take the material seriously like he did with Dagon.

Whose idea was it for the word LISP to have an S in it?

Combs can do sincere work if he was hired for it. Let's be honest, most Lovecraft films, especially at this time, were meant to be camp. His narration on the audiobook version of Herbert West : Re-Animator is excellent.
