Opening scene/One arm pushups

My favorite part of the movie is the opening. The scenery and "feel" are awesome. It really sets the tone as a man alone. Cage doing the one arm pushups is pretty cool as well.

initially, director John Dahl was going to use an already written Dwight Yoakum song for the credits. When Dahl and Yoakum met (Yoakum is the truck driver who has Cage on the top of his truck), Yoakum told Dahl he would write a new song for it and wrote "1000 miles from nowhere". Great soundtrack, I agree.

I think Cage did the one arm pushups in homage to Jack Palance who did them at the Academy Awards in March 1992 upon receiving the award for Best Supporting Actor. Red Rock West was released in 1993.

yes, I learned that long time ago. when I was young rocky did it. looks damn sexy in genes!

It was a delight to see a superstar do! I will recapture that stunt again next time I visit a bar!!!

Bruce Lee did pushups on two fingers on one hand.
Reportedly he could do 200 of them. And 50 one-armed pullups.
