Brandon Lee vs. Jet Lee

Jets quick, but Brandon's strong and fast, and is also the son of the best martial artist ever. I'd say this would be a draw, because they're both quick and Bruce probably taught Brandon everything he knows.

reply

Martial arts came second to acting in Brandon's life though. He trained, but he didn't really care to carry on any martial arts legacy, or so he has said. But you're right, I think it was be an excellent fight. I'm sure Bruce taught Brandon well. You've also gotta take into accound that Brandon was much bigger than Jet Li is.

reply

I have to pick Brandon.

reply

Didn't Bruce die when Brandon was like 6 or something?

reply

Brandon was 8 when Bruce died. And hey got serious into martial arts later in life especially with Jeet Kune Do. What the shame of the whole thing is Brandon Lee died in '93, how good would he have been after 13 more years of training. But Bruce Lee did start preliminary training with Brandon when he was around 3 I believe (Could be wrong on that age, but early none the less)
Also here's an interesting fact, he was originally the first pick to play Neo in the Matrix by the Wachowski Brothers. How awesome would that have been!?

I'd put my money on Brandon but Jet Li is a relentless fighter and Brandon looked more grounded whereas Jet is a little more arial but yeah over all Brandon would have kicked his butt

reply

i think it would of been an awsome fight, they are both good. its a shame that brandon died so young like his father, he would of been huge!!

as far as a movie fight, it would have been cool to see. both have done movies in the us and hong kong.

but if we are talking about a real fight, jet li does wu shu (which is more or less a performance martial art) whereas brandon (when he did continue his trainning) practiced the more practial jkd and filipino arts under (bruce lee's student dan inosanto).

brandon also disarmed and broke some bones of a guy who tried to break in his house.

jet li has said in interviews that he is just an actor, and wouldn't be able to handle himself as well as he does in his films.*

*i personally think he's being humble, but he knows he isn't the strongest guy in the world

my money would have been on brandon.

I had to look it up:

"The intruder lunged anyway, slashing Lee on his left arm but receiving, in turn, a separated shoulder and a broken arm."

"Lee: I am very pleased to say that instinct took over quite completely. We do knife-fighting drills down at the academy quite frequently and not just static knife-fighting drills, but the kind where one person will wear a fencer's mask and the other person will come at him quite vigourously with a rubber blade, and try and score.

I really just clicked right back into [that training]. I am back at the academy, what should I do? It was a relatively brief encounter, I took the knife away from him, broke his arm, dislocated his shoulder, broke his nose and his jaw, then the police came and took him away."

Pop would have been proud.

As much as I love Brandon for his abilities in both acting and the martial arts, Jet Li would win every time. That includes against Bruce Lee. I agree, he was just being humble, it seems that he tries to avoid comparisons with any other fighter/actor. I know no one in the entire universe is likely to agree with me, but I'd like to see that fight. Both of them actually.

reply

It would've been a good fight but I'd have to say Brandon. And as far as Jet vs Bruce? Bruce, no contest.

reply

Bruce fought real fights his entire life. Bruce was seen as figure of legend in the martial arts community as well as the entertainment. There are tons of documented real fights, street and competition, that Bruce fought in. You are deluding yourself if you think that Jet would even last a couple minutes against Bruce.

Against Brandon though? Probably a good fight, but I'd still go with Brandon.

reply

It seems to me that much of Bruce's life is a mystery. Like you said, he was seen as a figure of legend. Often times that "legend" is beyond belief because it is made up. I don't doubt that Bruce was a great fighter and that he did beat a lot of people. But look at his most "famous" fights. Both sides usually tell different stories as to what happened. Bruce Lee was great. I'm not saying he wasn't, but I am saying that nobody is invincible and unbeatable. Just because Bruce accomplished a lot and created his own style does not mean there is no counter. You really think Bruce went his entire life without losing a fight? I'm not saying Jet Li did either, but if I had to bet, I would bet on Jet winning a fight between the two.

Also, why would you go with Brandon? Again, not saying Brandon wasn't good, but you give Bruce's background as reason for him to win yet say nothing for Brandon.

reply

Of course he lost fights. Everyone loses fights. I'm not saying he didn't lose, I'm saying he fought real fights and, according to people who knew him, he won the vast majority of his fights, real and competition. Jet performs Wu Shu which is mostly a performance martial art, with pretty moves designed to impress, not to accomplish anything real. He doesn't stand a chance against Bruce. This is also the reason I think he'd lose to Brandon.

(I think he'd lose to Brandon. I know he'd lose to Bruce. Notice the difference.)

reply

You do know that it is actually impossible to know that he'd lose to Bruce or Brandon right? You can only think either way. I know Wu Shu is a performance martial art, I think even Jet said that in an interview when asked how he'd do against other martial artists. Again, while there may be some truth, I think he was being modest. Nobody wants to upset the world by saying, "I could've definitely defeated Bruce Lee." That's probably an immediate career killer. The legend that has been built around him is so great that everybody would love to say "He was great; he taught me so much' he was untouchable" even if people really thought he was a jerk, a poor teacher, and limited in his abilities. I'm not saying he was any of that, but people always say the best things about the dead, never speaking of their flaws. It's now to the point that everyone in the world assumes what they've heard about the man is 100% true so that nobody will ever be able to say "I could've beaten him."

reply

people should just start off their sentence with "as far as I know", whenever they claim that Bruce Lee could beat everybody.

Brandon Lee actually had a personality and a good onscreen presence. He was a good, promising actor and a great fighter just like his dad. Jet Li is all style and nothing much else (no offense to his fans).

Did you engage hostiles? I *vaporized* hostiles.
