I wonder if George Strait...

...took even one acting class before he started filming this movie.

Get the facts first - you can distort them later!

I don't know, but he was fine in this. Reminds me of Neil Diamond in The Jazz Singer. Good enough. Besides, as long as I can look at George I don't care if he's not Laurence Olivier.

reply

He did alright. Great picture.

I think he did all right. But I think the movie would have been better if it had started Steve Kanaly from Dallas, and had him lip sync the music of George Strait. George would have still made a ton of money from his music being used.

reply

are you from Dallas, oh you mean the Show "Dallas

reply

Nah, just some guy named Steve Kanaly who lives in Dallas.

reply

I think i know that dude, does he live in Oak Cliff

reply

He lives on a ranch in the nearby community of Braddock. It's an adjoining ranch next to Southfork.

He played it pretty straight *ba dum tish*

Seriously, though, he was quite wooden where a bit more expression was needed, and stiff where a little more facial fluidity could have been used. His vocal tone was also rather sonorous when delivering his lines where a bit more intonation or inflection could have been used, but overall he really fit the theme of the movie. I think an acting coach could have done wonders because he looked great on-screen and despite his somewhat small stature he had a larger than life personality to make up for it in the movie.

Certainly not one of my favorites, but he was a serviceable, masculine lead for the film. It's interesting because we don't really get personalities like him on the big-screen anymore.
