The Sci-Fi channel just showed this, and I thought, hmmm, this looks like it was made around '83-84 or so. Based on how Meg Foster looks (fairly young, younger than in They Live) and the dress and behavior of the people (wasn't one guy signing a Robert Palmer song from '81 or so? Doctor Doctor?)

Interesting theory: Shadowchaser was made in 1984 and was shelved, Die Hard ripped it off in 1988 to make big worldwide box office hit.
they should've move this shadowchaser from tall building to battleship or train, or maybe in ice-hockey arena! Then it would have been real action classic!
One thing saves, Meg Foster, looks her age in this, and has magical eyes.

It because of a low budget that they shot this on old film stock, The three sequels look like they were shot on newer looking film.
