This movie was your standard Hollywood good guys and bad guys drama, just not well done at all. Morgan Freeman gets stuck playing some Tom that the audience is supposed to feel sorry for, just like all the other blacks we see. The little white kid is stronger and smarter than all the blacks, but is also such a good nice guy. He's much better than all the bad white apartheid men, and he can save all the poor black people who can't think or act for themselves. How. Freaking. Lame. Jam a silver spoon down my throat.

I grew up there, and that is how the people are. It's not just a Hollywood story. Hollywood just tried to replicate the story, not badly done at all in my opinion. You hear some Afrikaners swear in the background at some points. It is made in South Africa, with South African actors. Morgan Freeman did a great job acting "some Tom" (Geel Piet, actually).
