Book Sequel

I really, REALLY recommend the book sequel 'Tandia'. If you thought 'The Power Of One' was sad, wait until the ending of 'Tandia'. Sigh...

Sad like "Bambi-takes-two-in-the-chest" or sad like "Bryce Courtney is a hack and his self-indulgent writing is mind-numbingly predictable and superficial"? Just a question.

Sad like "Bambi-takes-two-in-the-chest", actually. No one here is saying that Bryce Courtenay is going to win the Booker Prize. But I just would like to know what makes his writing self-indulgent and mind-numbingly predictable and superficial? If we're going to have a discussion, you can't just throw these adjectives around without backing them up.

But most of all, I'd just like to know why a story can't be enjoyed for the sake of the story itself? Your comment is exactly like someone saying, "My favourite movie? Well, it undoubtedly has to be Citizen Kane, as it was a benchmark for narrative film and the process of filmmaking itself." When we all know that everyone loves Ferris Bueller.

Just enjoy it for what it is. A good story.

Sheesh! Don't be so pompous.
