Weird bruises - did anyone else notice this?

In the scene where the Dad has sex with Ivy on top of the car in the rain: When he lifts up her shirt to cop a feel, a number of small but dark bruises can be seen on the underside of one of Drew Barrymore's breasts. What's that all about? I'd say implant surgery but I'm 99% sure her boobs are real. There seems to be such a pointed showing of it in the movie. I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts?

reply

She had breast reduction surgery when she was 16 or 17

reply

Thank you! I didn't know that. I'm surprised they didn't hide the bruising for the movie but I guess it sort of goes with the character!

reply

your welcome.. suppose it does go with the character of ivy.

Let me quote Seth from "Superbad" since he had the perfect quote for this situation.

Seth: "What? That's like slapping God across the face for giving you a beautiful gift!"

reply

I thought hickey's, I did notice them as well, too small to have implants

reply

I doubt the bruises were from surgery, or they wouldn't have made a point of showing them like that. They could have covered those bruises with make-up. Plastic surgery leaves scars, not bruises. I think it is supposed to be a suggestion of something bad happening to Ivy. She seems to be a girl with some dark sexual secrets. But that scene on the Mercedes was very well filmed, extremely erotic, and I think she showed as much of her body as she was allowed to show without the film having censorship problems.

reply

Plastic surgery does leave bruising when it is first done. Trauma to the tissue I suppose. It would have to have been done really recently before filming though for that to be the cause. I looked into the breast reduction that what-i-hav-said told me about above and he is certainly right. That explanation works for me! :)

clearly, it is not a body double, and also, the film was very low budget so to have a body double hired would have done 2 things:
1. Decreased the pay of Drew Barrymore because of hireing a body double.
2. Not have shown Drew's face, which it did, and was clearly visible that it wasn't a double.

Jaime Pressley, who was in one of the other Poison Ivy movies, has admitted to being the body double for Drew Barrymore in the first movie. Additionally, she was the naked chick in the fantasy sequences in the Poison Ivy movie with Alyssa Milano.

None of the naked scenes in the first Poison Ivy were Drew Barrymore. They were ALL Jaime Pressley.

In fact, one of the articles I found said, about Jaime Pressley, "She made her big screen debut in the 1997 film, Poison Ivy: New Seduction; she was offered the role after appearing as Drew Barrymore's body double in the original Poison Ivy film." http://www.superiorpics.com/jaime_pressly/

I'm still not convinced that it was Jaime...

krista541 after reading your post I had to google Jaime just to see for myself if you were right, however the articles I read report Jaime as denying it. She apparently told Playboy or some other magazine that she thinks this confusion has come about because she played Ivy in the flashback scenes and photo's in Poison Ivy 2, however she states that she did not act as a double for Barrymore in the original film.

I myself do not believe that Drew used a double, she doesn't appear to have any problems appearing nude either on screen or in print (anyone remember her Playboy spread?)... she has shown part or all of her breasts in other films eg: Bad Girls and Boys On The Side...

This may be something she has moved away from during her career, but she certainly didn't seem to have any objections when she was younger.. especially seeing as how the nudity (IMO) wasn't gratuitous.

As for the bruising, I always thought they were real bruises from maybe fooling around with her real life boyfriend? Being a woman I know how easily breasts can get bruised during the throes of passion! I don't think they are from her breast reduction surgery, purely because of their location.... but hey, I am just speculating here...

Here are some links to the articles I found, read them and decide for yourself about the whole double situation...

It wasn't Drew's breasts in the close up. She said that the filmmakers wanted Ivy to have fuller breasts, so they used a stand in for the close up shot. She said she was pretty pissed that America would think they were her breasts, because her own were much nicer.

...at about 14 years of age?

Just how old do you think Jamie Pressly is?
I think she's a couple years younger than Barrymore.

reply

Um... it's been awhile since I saw this movie but I believe the bruises you are all talking about on Drews chest are from...

***SPOILER***

When Drew crashes the fancy car in the movie aren't they? Her chest hit the steering wheel- or was this scene in the OP thread BEFORE the car crash? Just wondering. Sorry if I am wrong, as I said it's been awhile since I saw it but that is what I remember.

Krista, i read your post and the link to the article you claim says that Jaime Pressly was the body double, but you're so-called "quote" you have is nothing like what it says in the article.

It actually says, word for word, "Pressly was first recognized as an actor in 1997 when she landed the starring role of prostitute Violet in the cable-friendly, erotic thriller Poison Ivy 3: The New Seduction. The bad girl role, combined with her appearance in Playboy magazine that same year, made Pressly’s body far more famous than her body of work."

Sorry, but I don't know where you got this information from.....

Jaime is 2 years younger than Drew, so would have been 14 when this was filmed. No way she could have been the body double, and she says she wasn't.

I guess it's like looking at clouds. You see one thing and I see another. Peace.

I thought I had read a quote in a magazine from Barrymore saying "Those were not my breasts in Poison Ivy. No offense to the girl, but I have prettier boobs." Though of course now I can't find the quote...*frustrated*
