How big is Whoopi's role?

Just wondering how big Whoopi's part in this movie is. Worth buying it to see her?

Thankyou.

It's a minor role, she pops up once in a while in a few short scenes.

I thought she was hilarious in this movie. Not to be missed. The whole thing is just great, I've seen it many times and never tire of it. Robert Altman was a genius, I'm so glad he got to make this smart, funny and entertaining film.

If her presence is your only interest in The Player, you might as well skip it. This movie would be way over your head, so just go and watch Whoopi on The View.

I don't like your rude comment to the OP expressing an elitist view just because you might like Altman films. Altman himself would be the first one to tell you that you're full of $hi+. If somebody is drawn to an Altman film because they like a particular star or performer, I have no problem with that. It brings in a new audience who might not have ever seen an Altman film otherwise. Some of them are bound to ask questions about the unique films he made and inquire further into his oeuvre. For some of them, Altman will indeed go "over their heads", but several Altman films went "over my head" too when I first saw them. I fell asleep upon first seeing Nashville, waiting for the plot to happen. It was only upon revisiting it that I "got" it. The same could be said of the great underappreciated gem Kansas City. Don't be a cultural snob or you'll make neophytes think Altman was so highbrow he would never deign to make a film that addressed the working classes and their concerns.

I'd say she's in it enough to justify watching it

Whoopi was an absolute showstopper in this film. The way she combined sheer menace behind a facade of casual banter and friendliness was incredible.

Small role, huge performance and her scenes were amazing. I'm not a big fan, but if you are this is some of her best work.

Mostly about Tim Robbins' character but filled w great supporting characters like Woopie's.

See it!
