Carol ( Rita Rudner)

I know she wrote the screenplay but something is off about her working with the ensemble cast. Her depiction of the over-the-top, B actress just doesn't mesh with the British cast. I believe their characters -hers is just non-believeable. And it has nothing to do with her poking fun at Americans- I am American. Her voice, mannerisms grate on me like nails on a chalk board, which sucks because I love the rest of the cast and the rest of the movie.

Well, she's meant to be the outsider anyway, but acting-wise, this role could have done with a better actress. I don't think it's a huge problem since Carol is the 'stooge' of the film and and leaves early, but in Rudner's dramatic scenes, she's simply not up to it. She's very believable as the sitcom queen, though, and has great comedic timing. I don't know, maybe if she hadn't been cast then she wouldn't have co-written the script, which would have been unfortunate...
