An F-load better than the first one

I think the first Pet Sematary is just too boring and it's so moody. I really don't feel for any of the characters. Ofcourse I thought it was scary when I was 7 years old, so naturally I don't find it scary anymore.
Hell the next time I see the movie I'll probably have hedgehogs on my mind because the last time I saw the first Pet Sematary my mom came to me and told me there was a poor hedgehog running around our basement, so I carried it outside, it was so cute!

Anyways back to the topic, I enjoy watching Pet Sematary 2 a hell of a lot more than I enjoy watching the first. Pet Sematary 2 is funny, not trying to be better or worse than it really is, it's real tongue in cheek. I just love it. I had expected the sequel to be crap, but I was pleasantly surprised. Funny, funny stuff!

People don't realize it's a horror comedy. I enjoyed it more than the first one.

I like them both.

You like it because it's more violent. I like the first one better.

Anthony Edwards and Clancy Brown both much better actors than Dale Midkiff. Fred Gywnn saved that movie.

The original film is a horror classic. While the Pet Sematary 2 is decent (and better than most new horror movies that come out these days), it is nowhere near as good as the first one.

reply

I love them both, but Pet Sematary 2 is my favourite. Actually, it’s my fave movie of all time.

Both movies have violence and psychological terror. That has nothing to do with my decision!

I think people just say they hate it because it's cool to agree with Stephen King, who hates the sequels and spin-offs from his work without exception. But if you ask ME, Pet Sematary 2 is at least equal to how good the first one was. But #2 has more style in my opinion. It's a film that's allowed to be more free, and Furlong, Edwards, and Brown are all better actors than a lot of the ones in the original whether people want to admit it or not. It's a good time at the movies. Is that so bad?

reply

I happen to agree with you werewolfy. this one was my fave of the 2. The first one put me to sleep actually but this one kept me entertained.

Yeah I agree with you 100% I just couldn't get into the first one, I saw part 2 before I saw part 1 so maybe that made me more favorable, but nonetheless I think PC2 is one of the most underrated horror movies of all time.

How one-dimensional, short-sighted and narrow-minded as all hell. You can't see further than the end of your nose, can you? You seem so full of yourself.

What about me? I enjoyed both movies a lot. Where does that place me? Am I stupid or am I clever? You can't be both, right? Clearly there's something wrong with your thought-process here. Something is evidently affecting it more than it should. It's called "ego" and it is despised in most cultures.

Go learn the ways of Shaolin Monks. Learn to be humble and modest and peaceful. You need it.

You really ought to look in the mirror and say that. I won't go so far as to insult anyone's intelligence who preferred this one or liked both. However, the first one was more psychologically frightening where as this one just went for the gore shock thing. Mr. King's original novel frightened even him. So much so that he didn't get it published for 4 or 5 years.
I don't care for PS2 and thought PS1 was one of the most disturbing films I've ever seen. Maybe it was because I was the parent of a young child at the time. IMHO, no amount of gore or Clancy Brown acting lke Michael Myers on speed came close to little Gage Creed as a zombie. That truly messed me up for a few days. Those who declare it boring are of the younger more action/gore oriented crowd. It doesn't mean they are of lower intellegence, it just means they were brought up on a different type of film. But what do I know? I'm one of those morons who loved "Stargate: SG-1".
