Despite being substantially inferior to the original film...

... Pet Sematary II somehow manages to be creepier in tone. I think it's because every single character is absolutely miserable. You have one kid mourning the death of his mother, you have another contending with an abusive stepfather, not to mention a school bully - the list goes on. Granted, the acting and movie-of-the-week production values are terrible, but the sadness of the story definitely makes an impact.
