Hijacked Plane In PASSENGER 57 Was A Lockheed Widebody

Hijacked Plane In PASSENGER 57 Was A Lockheed Widebody.

Lockheed made 250 of these planes before ending their commercial plane business ventures of the time. They needed to sell 500 in order to break-even.

Here is a wiki on the Lockheed L-1011 Tristar:

It sounds like a pretty nice plane. Too bad Boeing, McDonnell-Douglas and Airbus gobbled up most of the widebody commercial jet market.

Didn't that air hostess/stewardess/flight attendant who wasn't Elizabeth Hurley say that the plane they were was a jumbo jet?!

747s DC-10s, and Lockheed L1011s were all considered jumbos in the 70s. When air traffic controllers refer to a flight that is one of these jets, they have to attach the word "heavy" as a reminder to keep planes trailing it at a further distance because of the wake turbulence they generate.
