Good, but only one piece of the real story...

This gives a good look into the tragedies that happened to the Panamanian lower class civilians, giving insight into the mass amounts of civilian casualties that went completely unreported by the American press. Having spent a week in Panama City and in several conversations with locals, who explained what had happened i was completely horrified and unaware, he claimed it was 10's of thousands of casualty deaths and I only had seen what was in our newspapers.

Unfortunately, there is only brief mentions of what seems to be the real motivation was for the invasion, the 'withdrawal' of the billions of drug dollars that was stored in Panamanian banks and US control of not only the canal but cocaine trafficking. SEE 'Cocaine Cowboys' for the bigger pieces to Bush's interest and history in the cocaine cash interest.

Odd how when I was stationed there for 15 months from May 1989 to July 1990 that What I saw and how the place improved is really how it was reported back to the people back in the United States. While the overall conditions may not have improved, that was going to take more than the actions that occurred over the few days that military action took place.

I was at most of the places that were in direct fire and it was a rather straight forward operation. However, regardless of what the films says the "real" reasons were for the invasion, it is clear that the reasons that were given, i.e. the threats and murders of American people in Panama and the Zone area were a fact.
