Theron vs Smart as Aileen Wuornos

Hands down, Smart and Overall did a much better job in their acting in this movie. I remember a scene from a bathroom where Smart had on a really tight bra.......looked old. That must have been from reality, on how Lee lived. Tortured soul, but to kill.........I would have much rather they weren't killed. I agree with you......these two actresses have proved themselves.....but the awards to to the "new" people.........the really "pretty people".

Charlize definitely deserved her Oscar- she was uncanny in the way she emulated Wuornos. I had seen the first documentary years ago, and was blown away at how Theron captured her mannerisms. I also think that Monster was the better film overall.

However, Jean Smart is also amazing. While she did not do a direct imitation of Wuornos, she gave a powerful performance of a woman gone over the edge. My main complaint is that the tv-movie watered down the relationship between Wuornos and her partner. This really hampered the story.

I totally agree. I think Jean Smart played her much better than Theron. I came on here to see if anyone else felt that way!
