What do you suppose happened to George after he put Lennie down? Part of me wants to think that he got that home and that piece of land he and Lennie dreamed about while realistically I think he kept on with the tramp life and eventually disappeared into the leaves of history altogether.
shareI always kind of thought that he returned to the farm. The posse was coming to kill Lennie but George beat them to it and I'd assume from the "code" of that time or farm, he'd have been let back in. Though I doubt he stayed long. He and Candy had the money for the little farm they wanted to buy and I figure they did. He was tramping because Lennie tended to keep giving them reasons to keep on the move. Without him, George would be free to stop and settle down. And Candy was depending on that as well. Given that he was becoming/became useless to the farm owner. Just my HO.
