Question about ending SPOILERS

There was not enough evidence to charge let alone convict Laurie with fire bombing Ed's boat, but clearly she could have been convicted of later attempting to murder Ed's daughter. Yet in the final scene we see her just "One Year Later" saling off with another old man, daddy-type boyfriend. No charges? No trial? No conviction?

Somebody's seen her. Somebody always sees a girl with $40,000.

I wondered about that too.

Maybe she was deemed 'mentally troubled' and was sentenced to therapy or some such instead of prison.

Yeah I think she was order to go to therapy because you see her in a hospital of some kind

Doesn't matter, Karma caught up with her and now she has stage 4 breast cancer. Read up about Shannon Doherty, she's a witch.
