Why this film is great
Ok, so the plot doesn't really go anywhere and the ending is anti-clamatic. The acting in this film is perfect. Not one bad performance and it could be arguably DeNiro's finest. He has never played a role like this. His role as lawyer Harry Fabian is funny, sad, stupid, and deceitful. But what makes this movie for me is a speech he gives to Alan King who plays a mob boss. Fabian tells him why he is challenging him as a boxing promotor and discusses how he is sick of being a loser and he gives this great dramatic speech and then ends with him asking King, how much money would he give Fabian if he walked away. DeNiro at his finest. Rank this one with King of Comedy as a must see just for DeNiro.
