Ending question

Last time I came to this board there were NO posts!!! People seem to believe that for DeNiro, this is sub-standard work. I liked it. His Harry Fabian role was truly a departure for Mr. DeNiro. Shows he is not afraid to take a risk. Jessica got alot of bad reviews on how she played Helen. I disagree. Question: are we to believe that Harry dies in the end???? He was still doing his fast talkin' bit. Anybody got any thoughts?? (I'de like to think that he made it...even if it's only a movie..)

THIS IS NOT HERE

Well like you said he seemed very much alive and kicking in the end so i think he really made it although in my humble opinion if he died he would add more drama to the movie and give it a tragic end,i am not a fun of happy ends like you can guess heh.

Overall this is a great perfomance by Deniro in a very good movie.

reply

He made it. I guess he paid for what he had done, but he made it.
It's not a tragic movie, but with a little light at the end.

reply

Yep, he made it but Eli Wallach will probably go after him for the money loan.

Films are not reality. Reality is not film. Film is only an approximation of reality.

They had the 12 thousand still. They didn't spend the money, since the fight fell through. Can't they give that back to Wallach's character?

reply

It is not a drama movie, harry is silly and funny and that is the touch of the movie, mixed with some scenes trying to seem serious..But i think Fabian survives. He was *beep* up,but he could talk and when he went into the ambulance,he was still alive, hurt and tired, but alive.
