Newsies / The News Boys, why two names?

I have only just discovered this film, as I am working my way through Christian Bales filmography (so much fun!).

I'm slightly confused as to why the name of this film was changed. Any thoughts?

Newsies is definitely the name it was released under in the US. However, some countries *did* release it under the title of 'The Newsboys'. It's not unusual for the same movie to be released under different titles in different countries. I think it has to do with what wording would make the most sense in the language represented.

This is from the IMDb page (With translations in subtitles as best as I could do them):

Also Known As (AKA)

The News Boys Sweden (TV title) / UK
A Luta dos Ardinas (The Fight of ?)- Portugal
Die Zeitungsjungen (The Newspaper Boy) - Germany
Extra! Extra! Brazil
Gli strilloni (The Newsboys) - Italy
La pandilla (The Gang) - Spain
Newsboys (undefined)
Newsies - France (TV title)
Rikkancsok (Paperboy) - Hungary
The newsboys - lehtipojat (Journal of the Boys) -Finland
