I think his dislike is like people looking at their baby pictures. Relatives and some people might think they're cute, but the person in question may be a bit put-off.
Besides, most actors/actresses have roles that alot of people love and they dislike. DiCaprio has often said he disliked his role in 'Titanic,' and Johnny Depp disliked working on '21 Jump Street' (he subtly mentions this in a foreword to a Tim Burton biography).
