Good songs but the stage musical overrelies on them

Newsies the movie only had 6 that really stood out (and I believe only 8 total excluding reprises) and they were definitely very good songs.
Carrying the Banner, Seize the Day and King of New York are obviously the highlights. But for the stage musical there is a huge overreliance on just those 3 songs instead of coming up with new songs that are actually good.

Carrying the Banner, Seize the Day and King of New York all get reprised MULTIPLE times in the stage musical and then at the end, the orchestra plays a medley that just keeps cycling through those 3 songs and nothing else. I'm sorry to say but the new songs they created for the stage are garbage; completely forgettable, bland, poorly written. I guess it shows you how hard it is to crank out a solid tune.

By the way, I'm aware that those three strong songs all get reprised in the movie as well, but then again, there almost no other songs in the movie in general. By reprising them multiple times on stage, it's like their pointing to short stack of solid songs in Newsies.
