best christmas film?!

No to your Love Actually, no to your Elf, no to your Four Christmases...

Muppet Christmas Carol is the film that makes me ready for christmas!
anyone agree? :)

...Good opinion once lost, is lost forever...

reply

Yes, I love this movie. I can't believe it's 17-years old!!!! I remember seeing it at my local AMC.

Four Christmases will never be a classic - it sucked.

reply

Capra's It's a Wonderful Life (1946) remains in my opinion the best Christmas film, but, yeah, the Muppet Christmas Carol is amazing and wonderful. Definitely an every-year-at-least-twice holiday film.

reply

Couldn't agree with you more! The Muppets rule :)

Maybe not the best (I like "A Charlie Brown Christmas", "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and "The Nativity" better), but very, very high on my list. Definitely my favorite of the Christmas Carol movies.

Like someone said, you have to watch it on Christmas Eve--after all, "it's only one more sleep til Christmas!"

Merry Christmas, everyone!

reply

This is my fave christmas movie! Have to watch it every year, gets me in the christmas mood. It will never age either, will still be great for kids to watch for years to come.

reply

My three favorites are Muppet Christmas Carol, It's a Wonderful Life, and, though this last one is less popular, Joyeux Noel (if you haven't seen it, you definitely should. It's well worth it!)

about the age thing im 23 and i still love it! i think its cos our generation grew up watching it over and over again on video (remember them!!!)

Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas will always have an extra-special place in my heart. But I just discovered Muppet Christmas Carol and I can't bear to delete it from my DVR, commercials and all.

reply

Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas. What an absolute classic.

I remember watching this when it first came out on TV, and a couple of years ago I managed to get hold of an old VHS copy through Amazon. Along with The Muppets Christmas Carol, It's a Wonderful Life and Olive the Other Reindeer, Emmet Otter always gets a viewing every christmas in our house.

SenoritaTorres,

6. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
9. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

In what way are they Christmas films?

reply

My biggest annoyance is when they play non-Christmas movies and call them Christmas-y. Like 'The Incredibles' 'Mary Poppins' 'Aladin' and such. Just because they're Disney doesn't make them Christmas.

"Or ones I like to watch at Christmas"

Learn to read.

reply

Muppet Christmas Carol is damn good but it's not better than It's a Wonderful Life or Gremlins, sorry.

reply

If you're being objective then you have a strong case, but I just can't be objective. The Muppets Christmas Carol is by far my favorite Christmas movie and I can't ever be convinced otherwise. If there is any place for me to be conceded this is it.

reply

this movie is the only thing that puts me in the christmas spirit... I am 21 and am the youngest in my family and every time i think the christmas spirit is passing, i watch this movie and remember

reply

I absolutely adore this film. It's a must-see every Christmas season for me.

reply

While I do adore Love Actually, I have to agree...I dearly love this movie and brought it with me to my parents' house this year just so I could watch it on Christmas Eve!

P.S. Love your Mr. Darcy there on the bottom. :)

reply

This is my favorite Christmas film. I watch it every Christmas Eve.
