The adventures of Pete + Pete

Anyone else think this movie was an inspiration for that classic show? Adults in P&P often react to the kids of that world in a similar (less adult) way, Gus with the forearm tattoo, the fictional state names, the hoover dam, odd rocker cameos... there were other things I thought of when I saw it, but that's all I can remember off the top of my head. And it came out just a little bit before Pete & Pete.

My friend and I who are both huge Pete & Pete fans were both remarking on the similar surreal kids world feel all throughout Motorama.

LOL, saw your rec of this movie over at the Pete&Pete message board. Never saw or even heard about this movie, but I took a look at the preview. Definitely saw similarities, particularly when the main boy is wearing the red hate for some reason (little Pete constantly wore a red plaid hat). And the kids having tattoos, hoover dam...yeah I could see it.

I think Pete&Pete was around before this movie came out, technically, before it was a series they had 1 minute shorts on Nick. I went to say they first came out 1989, 1990? But nothing saying they didn't borrow from the movie. Seems like this poor film is even more obscure then Pete&Pete is now.
