What happens in the end

Before I knew better, I was naively convinced by a fantasist childhood class mate of mine (who claimed he'd seen the motion picture) that Mikey bit the dust at the hands of a fellow psycho-kid. According to him the kid in question who does in Mikey is either his younger half-brother (they share the same father) or a former next door neighbor kid who witnessed one of Mikey's earlier killings (Mikey in his new identity, secretly goes round to finish child eyewitness off...only for his would-be victim to get the drop on him instead). Like Mikey he gets away with it, since he makes it look like provoked self-defence, plus he uses the murder weapon meant for him on Mikey to finish him (Mikey) off. Since discovering differently, It's got me considering that this bogus ending might've been better than the real conclusion. But of course real life is not like those in standard Hollywood endings.
