i feel bad for banks

that poor kid gets taken away from his friends
forced onto a team that doesn't want him
they give him madd *beep*
and then he gets knocked out in the last game
see kind of harsh for a litttle kid who never did anything wrong

i told you not to stop the boat. Now lets go. Apocaylpse Now

I felt bad that he got taken away from his friends too, but the reason the Ducks didn't want him around at first was because Adam and his Hawk friends were mean to them.

reply

true.
so he wasn't completely innocent. He terrorized the Ducks, ahem, District 5.
But his transition to the Ducks was better for his career, long-term.

As I've suggested in another post, I wonder if Gordon, conciously or subconciously, took Adam off the Hawks because he wanted to protect him from Reilly. Gordon and Adam had a lot of similarities and Adam could have turned out like Gordon if he had stayed on the Hawks.

reply

Possibly but I think it was more along the lines of it was the rules that Adam play for the Ducks and he shouldn't be above the system.

Banks is a cool character in this movie because you can see the change in him just given the influence around him. He was a bully early on but learned humility when he was left all alone with the kids he had been picking on. He deserves ton of credit for even showing up to play for the Ducks. What Bombay did was a bit cruel but he ultimately saved him from the influences of Reilly. Had he remained on the Hawks he would have turned out rotten just like McGill. Their coach only cares about winning. He doesn't care about his own kids, he takes pride in running up the score on a bunch of children and he gives orders to have Banks intentionally injured. He's a sorry sack of s---

reply

Wish they could have saved McGill , Larson and the other hawks from Reilly because they were all good kids at heart just under the wrong authority. One of the Hawks kids(I believe it was Larson) always labeled the district 5 kids as "girls" and we see in the final game that it stems from Coach Reilly who called them ladies because the ducks had scored a point. "no such thing as bad kids only bad coach".

reply

I felt bad for Banks when his dad told Gordon "my son would rather not play then play for your team." all Adam wanted to do was play hockey.
