Those are the clothes he was wearing during the accident. They, too, are invisible. Unless I'm thinking of a different scene...in that case, never mind.

Oh ok, well that makes better sense what you are saying, I mean when he was walking in the street and he knocked out the guy hailing the cab, he was wearing clothes then too, and no one seemed to notice him.

The one major goof I saw in the film was when he was walking on the street. Each time Chevy Chase was visible so was his "Shadow". ;-)

We could see Mr. Chase, but he was still supposed to be invisible, so the light shouldn't have been blocked.

But, the show was still very good.

In the scenes where we're able to see him when he's invisible, logically we should also be able to see his shadow in that "mode of seeing".

Exactly, since we can 'see' him we should be able to see his shadow.. and when others don't see him no, shadow either.

Of course the real life reason also being it would have been impossible to CGI out shadows like that for the entire movie since it was an era of practical effects and CGI like that was super expensive and nowhere near as good as today

Dude, his cloths where invisible to. Watch it again, Nick wears those cloths throught out the entire movie.

I dont think there are any major gaffs in the movie. The one thing I thought of was when he ate the chinese food. He claims the food he ate has 'evaporated' the next day, but how can solid food evaporate? There'd be some trace of any food he eats and those remains would be visible in his belly, kind of like the scene where you see his 'painted' head running down a SF street.

OK now I'm getting a bit too anoraky....somebody hit me.

Plus,if you want to get really technical about it, he would have been blind throughout the entire movie. Light has to reflect off of your retina for you to see, since he's invisible, the light would just go right through and he wouldn't see a thing. But then there would be no movie. Just a blind invisible guy.

I noticed it too. His clothes DO change. was just watching it, & when the kid comes in to drop off the delivery, then starts snooping around, he is wearing different clothes, yet is invisible. He then proceeds to say "hey dickwad" in he kids ears & he runs off.
Also, just before that when he is taking some guy hostage, guy to the head kinda thing, he's wearing a full suit.
perhaps all that suits invisible... (thinking out loud here) that would makes sense.
Then again, if it's invisible, how can he see it when he takes it off? does he have the power to see things that ARE invisible? in which case, he wouldn't make a very good spy, as another invisible spy would be able to see him (if they made another one)...
i dunno. it was an entertaining movie nevertheless... (i guess)

also, the blind invisible guy is a funny thought... in the Kevin Bacon invisible man movie, he complains that he can't see as the light is too bright, as his eyelids are now transparent... but then, it must follow his retina is invivble too... so yeah, it's an interesting idea. but flawed.

Jesus, did I say that? Or just think it? Was I talking? Did they hear me?

His entire suit was made invisible by the accident. Does no one remember? When he is first fleeing his apartment after seeing the "SWAT"-guys approaching, he is fumbling around on the chair, looking for his jacket. He does a great bit with it because he can't see it either and tries desperately to put his arm down the sleeve.

Also, at the very end, he uses the same jacket, half covered in dust to lure Sam Neil to his demise. Hello? :D

Obviously that person who said "he's only invisible when he's naked" didn't actually watch this movie...probably thinking of The Invisible Kid, or something else entirely.

The novel addresses but dismisses the "blindness" thing.

As for his invisible clothing, the novel actually has Nick spending a lot more time in the invisible building at the outset. He gathers up everything he can find, because it's all invisible, and uses the wiring, phones, shower curtains, etc. later in the story to make things like cold-weather clothing (out of shower curtains and other people's clothes, I think) and a crude but undetectable alarm system. That way, he neither has to run around naked or wear the same outfit all the time.

Nah, he's wearing the same clothes in that scene. The only difference is he's not wearing his jacket.
