Jerry Goldsmith's score

What do you think about Jerry's score? I think especially "The Trees" is really excellent but also the theme of Rae's arrival!

reply

Rates right up there with John Barry's in Out of Africa and High Road to China and Dances with Wolves; i.e., the very best, ever.

reply

where can you get hold of the soundtrack?

reply

I just got in on ebay. Even though it was used it was in great condition.

reply

I do agree ... this one and Dances with Wolves are probably the best scores ever written.

reply

Love that film score. In the trees is especially beautuful.

The score to this movie was excellent, and in part made the movie that much better. I miss Jerry Goldsmith's work. He was one of the best composers. The music to Medicine Man, 13th Warrior, and The Haunting is among my favorites that he has done.

reply

The Trees is absolutely beautiful. I really do love the crescendo later in the track. So magical. The best track on the soundtrack. Anyone who has not listened to it yet (without the movie) - do so. 6 minutes of a great score track.

Medicine Man is one of the best scores I've ever listened to and I've listened to hundreds. My favorites are "Mountain High" and "The Injection." This is my second favorite Jerry soundtrack, only behind Planet of the Apes. But barely!!

Absolutely one of my favorite soundtracks ever, Jerry Godlsmith or otherwise. Listen to it frequently. Have introduced friends to this score and they enjoy it as well. Not a bad track on the recording. Stand alone music -- no need to see the movie to enjoy this score.

reply

I liked the score so much I bought it after leaving the movie. I lent it to someone and never got it back. I hope I can still find it.

reply

My first soundtrack bought! I will always cherish Goldsmith's inspiration and incredible harmonies in this one. The Trees is simply spine-chilling.

reply

Superb score and "The Trees" is one of his most beautiful tracks.

reply

So glad this many people enjoyed the soundtrack. I think its quite superb and makes the
Movie better altogether. Trees and the closing "meal and a bath" are beautiful, I'm amazed it got no awards at all. Goldsmith is very inspirIng and communicates so much through his music.

Jerry Goldsmith is among my favourite film music composers, too!

I have never heard anything he wrote that I didn't like.
