A 5.7, are you freaking kidding me??

The movie was great. Connery, the scenery, the stunts, the actual villagers and plot were awesome. Don't get me wrong, the woman was like a female christopher walken and talks like shes stoned half the time but she was a lot of fun. I even watched gorillas in the mist before this and even though they are similar, this was just as impressive. I dont think htere will ever be a cure for cancer,. but we can prevent it. Cancer is man made, out of thousands of mummies and neanderthal bones studied, only one has been found with possible cancer. What do you think about that? We're the cause and cure for cancer.

I don't get what's with the rating either. This movie is GOOD, I watch it almost every year.

I have been called bad before. Many have said I do things that are not correct to do.

Yeah the movie to me is borderline oscar worthy.

That ratings a joke! I give it a 9 !!!

I looked at RT and the rating here and am just as repulsed by the blind hatred for it. This is a fine film.

The reason why this movie is rated lowly is because it has one of the worst lead actresses in the world, and that is enough to break a great movie to a lot of people.

I thought she was alright, atleast it wasn't Jennifer Lawrence.

It's a travesty, but so are the majority of imdb voters, so no shock.

I've never understood why this movie was so panned by critics, and received at best lackluster reviews from audiences. I love it. Might be because the score is amazing. One of my favorites from Jerry Goldsmith. Music seems to be a huge contributor to what makes me enjoy a movie. Usually when I really like a movie that's not loved by most others, it's a movie known for having great music.

A lot of the criticism seems directed towards Lorraine Bracco, but she NEVER bothered me in this movie. She was right for the part, and I thought she had some great moments. I love the scene where she is following Campbell, pleading with him not to use the last of the working serum to save Imana.

Crane: 'You CAN'T use the last of it!'
Campbell: 'We know the molecule.'
Crane: ' A picture! A GHOST IN A MACHINE, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE CAMPBELL USE YOUR HEAD!'.

She nailed that line.

Some great comedy moments. Sometimes very subtle, sometimes in your face. Both worked well. I love the scene where Bracco is bathing and they discuss the 'Spiky Candiru'. That scene cracks me up. Bracco's 'Yocco' high is a little over the top, but it was fun. I also love the scene where Dr. Crane is getting ready to leave and she's tootling around out in the rain laden down with all her luggage while she insults Campbell. The way the music slowly drowns her out is fantastic. The scene where Jahausa and Palala are giving Campbell an endless line of crap about 'Dr. Bronx' gets a good hearty laugh out of me. I like those guys.

Lot's to admire about this flick, and I find very little to hate about it. It wasn't a masterpiece, but I find it very underrated, and don't understand why. When I speak to people who've actually seen it and remember it, they seem to have a good opinion of it. Where are all these people that hate Medicine Man?

I keep returning to this amazing film, trying to rationalize why it got poor reviews or has such a low rating - and I just can't reconcile it. I love everything about this film, including Jerry Goldsmith's phenomenal score.

So many great scenes. The zip lining in the trees along with the great Jerry scoring makes this worth watching alone.

Ignore the damn reviews and ratings. Give this one a shot.
