Ending with Cordell and McKinney....

I love these movies very much, this is the greatest B-Movie trilogy of our time. Like most of you, I feel the third entry was lacking in charm and direction, possibly to me seeing it 10 times within the past month and a half (its been on cable late-night). But I do hear that a 4th Maniac Cop is on the way, so lets hope it'll salvage this one.

What did McKinney mean when he said that "I can't imagine the pain you feel Matt, so I am not going to pretend to?" Was he talking about him being ressurected and having to walk the Earth, or about Kate being framed in the similiar manner in which he was? I think this is open to interpretation....

Also, what movie was Lustig planning on making if he were to have had full creative control with this entry? I heard Joel Sission (producer) kept interferring with production. If anyone knows that would be great.

At a Q & A I attended with Lustig, he was vague about what exactly he would have done differently, but he did say there was a lot of interference, and that he and Larry Cohen weren't really able to work the way they usually did.

The one funny thing I remember him saying was that the producers told him, "We want to make a 'Maniac Cop' picture for people who don't watch 'Maniac Cop' pictures."

He also mentioned that he hadn't really seen it since its premiere, and didn't remember much about it, but that he'd recently DVRed it off TV and was maybe going to watch it one of these days.

Personally I thought it was pretty good. Not quite as good as Maniac Cop 2 and definitely not as good as the first one, but really enjoyable for fans of the series.

He probably meant the pain that Matt was going through with walking the earth as a dead man. He was probably lonely too, as lame as it sounds. That's why he wanted Kate as his "bride." Very cheesy but Maniac Cop 3 is still pretty enjoyable. I'm also pretty sure that Matt was still pissed off about being screwed by system. Houngan says that Cordell wouldn't have come back if he didn't want to. Something along those lines.

When we interviewed Larry Cohen, he said the entire script of Maniac Cop 3 was rewritten due to producer interference.

Yeah, that's what I interpreted it as well. I love these movies, they are great! I just wish the 1st and 2nd one was on TV as much as the third (saw it again last night on Movie Channel).

Maniac Cop 3 was a good entry, but like every third movie in a trilogy, it's not as great as the 1st, or mainly 2nd (thats why Chris Nolan must direct the new Batman...hopefully WB won't make the same mistake twice)...Yeah I remember the Voodoo man saying "You would not have allowed your soul to come back if you didn't allow me. And your soul will never be at rest, will it Officer Cordell?" Then when he tries to ressurect Kate, her soul wouldn't allow it.

Great movies, can't wait for the 4th one to come out. You think they'll use the original plot line of a Rookie Cop getting Cordell's old badge number and becoming possessed by him?

Personally, I would rather have Cordell come back as a zombie (let's say he gets his severed arm back and is able to reattach it in the opening of the movie) and have him continue going on a rampage in NYC, only this time it's in Manhattan. Also, I would like a small reference to Jason Takes Manhattan being used in the film and to finally have an explanation of why Cordell came back as an undead in Maniac Cop 2.
