deeper meaning


I absolutely loved this movie, but when it finished I felt that there was a deeper meaning to it which I had missed. Does anyone have any theories? Could it be that Jennie Hill felt a greater need to take care of/mother her husband than Miller Brown, who didn't seem to need or particularly want that sort of thing in his life?

I think that the deeper meaning is...longing.
Miller Brown's longing was to belong - The glimpses of him as a kid at the begining, staring into the ranch where his father lives...
